February, the month of love…

We ALL look for that “special someone” and here at DLM we hope you find just that!

Big thanks to all our models, we had such a blast doing this shoot. Even though we were kicked out of our first location, we didn’t let that stop us! Just like our journey in life… there are always obstacles, keep focus, keep moving forward and press on!

MEET THE MODELS

Tobias Forrest – Quadriplegic C5

Toby is a man with many talents. Among his talents, he is an actor and a singer. If he is not on set in front of a camera, he is belting out lyrics as the front man of his band Cityzen in front of huge crowds. In May of 1998, Toby’s life changed from a diving accident that awarded him a broken neck and suffering a C5 spinal cord injury. Despite his injuries, Toby continues on with life making an impact in the world of music and media. See his band here www.cityzenband.com

Bridget Morell – Paraplegic T10/L1

I have been in a wheelchair my entire life and have had to overcome many challenges along the way. I feel that it has made me become the outgoing and independent person I am today. I am a single mom of two wonderful girls who mean the world to me. I have recently started taking up tennis lessons this past year and I love it. I enjoy surfing, sled hockey and spending a day at the beach riding hand-cycles. I enjoy meeting new people to show them that anything is possible, if you put you mind to it.

Kenza Kadmiry – Quadri”awsome” (her words) C5-C7

Only one month and 5 days after my 18th birthday, my much anticipated adulthood independence for the upcoming year took a 180 degree turn after sustaining a cervical level, spinal cord injury. As I made my way on my bike into a local cross walk with flashing lights, I was hit by  a car and the impact of the hit lead me to be rendered a quadriplegic. While the physical and lifestyle changes were most apparent, changes in my spirit and positive disposition could have well been labeled unaffected. I don’t take complete credit for this, however. My friends and family had provided the most incredible support system for me that I will remain eternally grateful for. My goals are set, not for the moon, but rather the stars. I look forward to continuing my education at California State University Northridge and make sure to dissolve the limits that society may attempt to put up for individuals using wheelchairs.

Andrew Angulo – Paraplegic T7

I was injured in June of 2009 while riding my motorcycle. Life changed instantly for me and even though my accident left with a spinal cord injury, I knew I had to keep moving forward with life for myself and for my kids. Months later I picked up a camera and began filming my life situations and places I go on YouTube. From there, a vision for a website came and here we are! I am excited for all the projects in the pipeline and look forward to what the future holds!
