Guys! Looking to chat with the ladies but don’t know how? Well I came across this video from Simple Pickup, about how to talk to girls, from some regular guys, and they use wheelchairs to make a point.

Does being in a wheelchair matter when it comes to picking up girls? Just wheel with me on this one

“Question: would you ever go out on a date with a paraplegic?”

I found this quite entertaining and it shows sometimes you may strike out and other times you may win.

I should try the “falling out of my chair” thing and be hopeful to be saved by a lovely gal to pick me up, dust me off, only to become enthralled in each others eyes and have that electric capturing moment! ~sigh~

Disabled Man Knocked Over At Church?

Church-KnocksSo when you go to church, I’m sure you never thought that people would rush in like a Walmart on Black Friday. Right?

A disabled elderly man is suing his Bronx church, saying parishioners rushing to find seats for a Sunday service knocked over his wheelchair in a holy scrum that left him with a broken hip .As the sanctuary doors of the East 224th Street church opened on April 1, “one or more” of the stampeding faithful smacked the wheelchair, sending Moore crashing sideways to the floor, his lawyer, Herbert Moreira-Brown, said.

 Several parishioners fell in the heap, and one landed squarely on Moore, who was rushed to Montefiore Medical Center, where doctors operated on his left hip to pin it back into place, the suit says.

MMA Fighter – No Hand? Still Can Kick Your Ass!

MMA fighter Nick Newell might only have one arm … but he’s definitely got plenty of balls … telling TMZ he’s more than capable of fighting in the Octagon — even if UFC prez Dana White isn’t convinced he can pull it off.

Nick’s already the undefeated belt holder in the Xtreme Fighting Championship, but tells us he’d kill to cross over to UFC — however, (Dana) White expressed reservations because, as he puts it … “It’s hard to fight with two arms, you know what I mean?” 

Ok, so a one handed undefeated fighter wants to step into the UFC octagon and go toe to toe with the rest of the UFC fighters without discrimination… I’M IN FULL SUPPORT! Nick’s determination is AWESOME!

Go get them Nick!

Popular Wheelchair Maker vs FDA

Stepping into 2013, it seems Invacare company (maker of extremely popular “Top End” wheelchair) is going through some struggles according to this recent FDA news release.

The Food and Drug Administration announced today that medical device maker and distributor, Invacare Corp., and two of its top executives have signed a consent decree of permanent injunction requiring the company to stop manufacturing, designing, and distributing manual and powered wheelchairs and wheelchair components.  Once the consent decree is entered into the court, Invacare will not be able to resume normal business operations at two of its Elyria, Ohio, facilities until it corrects all violations listed in the consent decree and it has been notified by the FDA that it is in compliance with the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (the Act).- FDA.gov

“While we regret having to take this step, we recognize the need to align our workforce with our production volume,” said Gerry Blouch, Invacare president and chief executive officer. “We value and respect the hard work that our associates demonstrate on a day-to-day basis and we will provide assistance to those affected to help them with the transition…” - Herald Online Article

Well we hope for recovery for the 100 plus workers that are being laid off at the facilities affected and that the company gets “realigned” in accordance to the FDA. Can’t mess around with those guys! The auditors love to write up any discrepancy findings that makes sense and sometime perhaps some they don’t. I’m still bitter about the FDA audit write up  for a misplaced fire extinguisher from my last job.
