Pretty geeky but someone own actually took the time out of their day(s) to make a real working motorized wheelchair out of Legos! The story gained traction through a YouTube video gone viral, receiving over 60,000 views in seven days! Now dozens of news and techno-geek sites are covering the contraption.

“Lego robot builder Simon “Burf” Burfield built himself a DIY Lego alternative to the expensive commercial electric wheelchair that works surprisingly well.”

“While the chair doesn’t go anywhere particularly quickly–or quietly–it can carry a load of up to 200 pounds (90 kilograms). It’s also pretty maneuverable, as it’s able to move forwards and backwards as well as side-to-side.”

“Simon plans to further improve the chair by adding Bluetooth so he can control it remotely with an Android phone.”

Now I looked around the internet to find the inspiration behind Simon “Burf” Burfield’s design concept and why he chose to make a wheelchair, is he paralyzed? does he have walking issues? or did he simply just say “oh I’ll make Lego’s carry me around the house” but I wasn’t able to find anything yet.

All in all, cool design Simon!
