Some mothers can’t take NO for an answer!
“The case was brought by Tina Baughman, who wanted to celebrate her daughter’s eighth birthday at Disneyland. Baughman suffers from limb girdle muscular dystrophy, which makes it difficult for her to walk or rise from a seated position. She explained her disability to Disney and asked to be able to use a Segway, a two-wheeled transportation device operated in a standing position.”
“Disney refused, and Baughman sued under the Americans with Disabilities Act.”
“In ruling for Disney, the lower court noted that the park permits disabled visitors to use wheelchairs and scooters.”
Hmm, hard for child to go from sitting to standing so therefore needs a Segway? Was the mother planning on having her child go on any rides? Most rides require going from standing in line, to sitting on the ride, then standing again. Right? Was the logic was to perhaps lessen the sitting while going around the park? Tough call.
Maybe mom should just have someone lift her and place her on the ride then back in a chair again like most disabled peeps do. There’s no shame in that. What do you think?
